For anyone who ever needed to have hernia surgery you may know what that would be like trying to play pro ball. The hernia and viral infection that proceeded it in spring training had nothing to do with the knee question that other teams weren't willing to go to a 5th year on with a contract. The Tigers have many outs written into that contract at the end of the first 2 years so they are not buried to this the same as the Yankees are with a Giambi contract. The guy has been a run producer his whole career so when he gets the bats in and if they are still way below his norm then he can be labeled a bust. Tigers sure could have used his normal bat over the last couple weeks of this offensive drought they have been in before yesterday.
